Toy Pickup Driver Volunteer
Position Title: Toy Pickup Driver
Purpose: Help bring Christmas to local children by collecting donated toys from community drop-off locations across Greater Victoria and delivering them to Santa’s workshop. A Santa's Toy Pickup Volunteer supports the Christmas program by transporting donations, delivering supplies between shopping centers, community partners, and the workshop. This role helps ensure volunteers and partner locations have the materials they need throughout the campaign
Location: Workshop and various locations throughout Greater Victoria
Time Commitment:
- Minimum: 3 days per week November 25 to December 24, 2026
- Typical shifts are 3–5 hours, depending on the route
- Days do not have to be consecutive, but confirmed dates are required so we can plan pickups
- Additional days are welcome if you are available
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow an assigned daily shopping center, route of toy-collection sites ( businesses and other drop-off partners)
- Safely load, transport, and unload donated toys at the workshop
- Confirm pickups with site contacts and report any issues (locked bin, unexpected volume, unsafe access)
- Represent CFAX Santas Anonymous with courtesy and professionalism
- Complete a simple check-in/check-out and note of what was collected
Reports to: Toy Pickup Driver Lead
Qualifications:
- Valid BC driver’s license and current vehicle insurance
- A reliable personal vehicle with enough cargo space for boxed toys
- Comfort lifting and carrying boxes, including in rain or cold
- A smartphone for route updates and check-in
- Ability to work independently and stay on schedule
- Friendly, calm manner when dealing with the public and partner sites
Nice to have:
- A helper for loading (welcome, not required)
- Familiarity with Greater Victoria roads
- Flexibility for a morning or afternoon route
Orientation and support:
- Orientation before your first pickup
- Daily route list and contact information provided
- Workshop team available by phone if a site or load changes
